I’m Suzy V, the founder of Gourmet Baby.
Gourmet Baby began as a frozen baby food business delivering “Solids Starter Packs” nationwide here in NZ—created from my own experience of wanting better options for babies.
Real food, made with ingredients I’d happily eat myself, using simple combinations of meat, vegetables, fruit, olive oil, and herbs across 15 tried-and-tested recipes plus seasonal options.
Along the way, I was honoured to be a finalist in the NZ Food Awards in 2018 and received Silver in the Oh Baby Awards in 2022.
These days, I no longer manufacture baby food—but that chapter is what shaped everything I share now.
I’m also a mum of three, and each of my kids had a completely different experience on the solids journey. I struggled with my first, my second didn’t eat lumps until 14 months, and my third was what I’d call a true Gourmet Baby—and is now my best eater.
I created this space because I wanted somewhere mums could come to feel supported—a place where you can ask questions, share experiences, and figure things out without judgement, noise, or the pressure that often comes with public platforms.
Gourmet Baby is now where I share the recipes, methods, and lessons I’ve learnt—focused on starting solids the easy way, with real food and a practical approach that works in real life.
Because there’s no one “right” way—just what works for you, your baby, and your lifestyle.
